Step 1 - Which wall system should I order? Segmental walls - those made from concrete components - are available in many varieties. The decision as to which to order depends on several factors. With many projects the deciding factor is esthetic so take a look at the wall samples at The Rock Pile or in catalogs and decide on the one that you like most. If the wall is going to be curved or has several inside or outside corners or is going to be over 2' high, some systems deal with these situations better than others. All of these factors should be part of your decision. We invite you to our yard at 900 Nagel Road. We have catalogues of available walls and we will be happy to discuss your selection and also show you the wide variety of systems that we have in our yard. |

Step 2 - Can I have wall stones delivered? Some wall stones are sold individually while others are also sold individually and by the pallet. We can deliver a maximum of 6 to 12 pallets of wall stones at one time depending on the weight. There is no minimum weight for a pallet delivery. The cost of the pallet delivery is based on distance from our yard. We only deliver wall stones to locations in northern Ohio. If the site considerations allow for it, we can deliver pallets of wall stones close to the work location. Pallet deliveries are separate from our regular delivery schedule. Wall stones can often be purchased individually and are available cash-and-carry from our yard. We do not always stock large quantities of all the stones that we sell so some may require ordering so plan ahead. Wall installations also require a preparation and compaction of the proper base material. Walls may require a backfill and use of landscape fabric as part of the construction. We have all of these products available. Some may require separate deliveries and coordination so that all of the materials would arrive at the correct time. "Plan ahead" is always the best advice. |

Step 3 - How can I estimate the amount of wall
stones
that I need? This is probably the most complex part of the ordering process. The easiest way is to make an accurate diagram of the wall that you want to build and bring that diagram to The Rock Pile with you. Our experienced staff can help you with planning the amounts of wall stones and caps. Briefly, some wall stones are sold individually so the planning involves the size of the stone and the number needed. A "course" of stone is one layer of the wall. Most walls require that at least 1/2 to 1 course is actually buried to form the base of the wall. The top course of most walls are called caps. These are usually different than the standard wall stones. Other wall systems are sold by square face feet. The easiest way to get the correct amount is to let us help you with the calculation. |

Step 4 - Can I purchase the materials that I need
for the base or backfilling my project. We have all of the materials that you need from the #411 limestone for the base to the sand for the bedding layer to the #57 limestone for backfilling behind the wall. We also have the pins and adhesive that is used to provide integrity for some wall systems. One-stop shopping at its best! We also have a knowledgeable staff that is available to answer all of the questions that you might have about completing your project. |

Step 5 - How do I place my order? We can accept a credit card - Visa, Master Card or Discover - or you can pay with a check or cash. A deposit will be taken at the time of the order and the final amount will be paid before the product is delivered. Of course you can also buy many of these products at our yard and pick them up in your own vehicle. There is a delivery charge for all deliveries and a minimum tonnage for the base materials based on your location. The delivery charge is in addition to the price of the materials. The exact weight of the base products is measured at the time of departure from the Rock Pile. This is the weight that the customer would pay for. The pallet delivery rate is based on distance from The Rock Pile to the job site. If you have any additional questions about delivery or about our wall products, we would be happy to answer them at the time of your visit. |
